Summer Workshops

A gathering place for youngsters interested in expressing themselves. Using easily available digital technologies, the club's activities combine art and technology to develop creativity and self-confidence. Open only to people between 10 and 14.

Those intrigued by the idea of making images and videos can apply for a set of 8 Saturday morning workshops. We will meet 9.30am to 1.30pm. The aim is to build a basic understanding of the language of cinema and how meanings are made using the elements of picture and sound.

This series of 8 sessions will be conducted by Chandita Mukherjee, award-winning documentary film maker. Among the subjects to be explored:

  • Photography and digital photo editing
  • Animation using a still camera
  • Conceptualising themes and developing scripts on them
  • Sound recording, track-laying and mixing
  • Music and sound effects
  • Videography and video editing

We will also see classics of world cinema portraying childhood experiences in different cultures and times for participants to reflect on and discuss. The activities will include demonstrations, hands-on practice and lead to projects which can be put up on the Internet and shared as works authored by participants.

At the moment this activity is only available in south Mumbai, though if there are enough people interested, we could go wherever we are called. Those who are interested may please drop us a line on team@filmichashma.org
