This is a gathering place for young people between 10 and 14 who are interested in expressing themselves audio-visually. Using easily available digital technologies, the club's activities combine art and technology to develop creativity and self-confidence. At the moment this activity is only available in south Mumbai.
Those intrigued by the idea of making images and videos are asked to get in touch. We will meet on Saturday mornings from 9.30am to 1.00pm with a short break in between. The aim is to build a basic understanding of the language of cinema and how meanings are made using the elements of picture and sound.
These sessions will be conducted by Chandita Mukherjee, award-winning documentary film maker. Among the subjects to be explored:
We will also see classics of world cinema where childhood experiences in different cultures and times are shown so that the participants can reflect on and discuss their observations. The activities will include demonstrations, hands-on practice and lead to projects which can be put up on the Internet and shared as works authored by participants.
